Get To Know the New CTA Feature on Quuu

Getting people interested in your content can be a challenge. No matter what you do, sometimes it feels like your traffic is stagnant.

You could spend hours curating the best content possible, but it doesn’t really mean anything unless it brings people back to your own site. Otherwise, it’s just free marketing for other companies.

But fear not! Quuu has the tool for you

Since our major redesign last year, we’ve been working on some new features. One of these is our call to action (CTA). This nifty little prompt encourages audiences to do or follow something related to the content you share.

Let’s say you’ve curated a list of five articles that link really nicely to things you have also written about. You send them off into the world, but with one crucial difference to your competitors—each of these links now has a CTA attached to them to redirect audiences back to your own relevant content.

It’s enticing, inviting, and you can make it as creative as you like. You can continue curating while improving the traffic coming back to your original site.

Step 1. Setting up

First things first. You need to set up an account!

This part’s super simple. You need your name, whichever email address you’re using (be that personal or company email), and a secure password.

Got it? Fantastic. Let’s move on!

Quuu's login screen with header 'Boost your conversions now'.

Step 2. Setup Wizard

Once you click that shiny yellow button that says “Get Started”, you’ll be taken to our set-up page.

Here’s a quick look at my perspective:

Big, bold letters that say 'Hi Alex. Let's get you set up.'
Below that is a small yellow button which says 'next'

You’ll be greeted, then prompted to set up a profile picture. But if you’re short on time, don’t worry.

Profile pictures are used on calls-to-action you create within the Quuu dashboard.

A circle featuring two silhouettes with a yellow button saying 'change picture' beneath it.

Below that is a red arrow pointing to a faint, grey piece of text that says 'remind me later'

As you can see at the bottom here, we always give you the option to be reminded later. It’s useful to set one up straight away so that you have an instantly recognizable profile to build on. But we understand that’s not always the priority.

Step 3. Who’s using it?

To give us a better understanding of how we can help you, it’s useful to know what you’ll be needing our services for.

Are you here by yourself, with, or on behalf of a team?

If your team is already here, we can help get you connected.

- It's just me
- I want to create a new team
- My team is already on Quuu

If you’d like to create a new team, you’ll be asked to choose a team name. But keep in mind, this option is not available on the free plan.

What's your team called?

Alternatively, if you’re joining a team, you should have been provided with an access code which you can input here.

What's your Team invite code?

If it’s just you using our services for the time being, you’ll then be taken to the next step.

Now it’s time to link up to whichever social media scheduler you like to use. You’ll need an account with one of these sites to continue using Quuu’s CTA. These are:

  • Buffer
  • HubSpot
  • SocialBee
  • Hootsuite

At present, these are the only schedulers we link to. But, if you prefer to use a different one, it’s always worth letting us know. There’s just so many to choose from, it wouldn’t be practical to include all of them. But there’s always room for expansion in the future!

Schedulers and content distribution tools are handy ways to help automate your content generation process. Each one comes with its own features and strategies to help you get the best coverage possible. So it’s worth researching which one will suit your needs best.

A major benefit of these tools is that it saves a lot of time in the long-run. Sure, you have the option to manually sort through and post content when you want. But it’s also nice to be able to sort everything in one day at the beginning of the month, and let your posts reach your audience without additional interference.

I’m currently using Buffer, so, naturally, that’s where I click. If you’re like me, you’ll then be presented with this notification:

Authorize Quuu to access your account?

Quuu is requesting permission to:
- Manage your Buffer account
- Create, edit, and delete your posts

[Allow access]
[No, thanks]

Simply press accept, and move on through with connecting your account.

Now, provided you’ve got some social media channels linked up to your scheduler, you can choose which ones you’d like to connect to your Quuu CTA plan.

Click on the profile you wish to connect to. I’ve selected my Twitter account, as that is where I share the majority of my content.

Step 5. Blog update options

Now comes the fun part.

Customization!

Who doesn’t love a good bit of pick-and-choose?

On your profile settings page, you can choose between manual and automatic scheduling. Essentially, do you want to trust the process and let our page curate the content for you, or would you like to veto and assess which articles are recommended and sent out?

By selecting the automatic option, you’re given the choice to receive up to six new posts per day.

These are shared on your Quuu account and also on your scheduler to be promoted on your social media account at whichever time you choose. This allows you to maintain a steady stream of relevant content without having to scrounge the internet to find it yourself.

From there, you then need to think about what exactly it is you want to post about. You can choose from hundreds of categories. These are the keywords that will be used when deciding which articles to send to you.

You can also choose what you don’t want to hear about. If there’s a subject you’re not particularly fond of, add it to the deny list, and we’ll be sure not to send you anything about it.

Since it’s relevant to me and my work, I’ve selected items about:

  • Writing (copywriting, travel writing, creative writing etc.)
  • Cats
  • Personal branding
  • Blogging
  • Freelance

You can specify and specialize. Whatever it is you want to hear about, we’ve almost certainly got a topic relevant to your interests.

Topics to personalize daily content on Quuu

We’ll come back to properly sorting out your CTAs in just a moment, so you can click ‘Done’ for now! It’s important you see where you’re at in the process and how to access the necessary features before you dive into anything else.

Step 6. Dashboard

So that’s that part sorted. Congratulations!

All done. Great news, you're ready to curate!

There is a yellow sign underneath this text which says 'head to dashboard'

Now you’re ready to have a look at your dashboard and get to grips with what everything is, and how to use it.

Your dashboard will look something like this to begin with. A bit blank, not much going on. That’s only to be expected – you’ve just started, after all.

Along the top you can see several important metrics. These include a tally of how many links you’ve created, clicks you’ve received (in the beginning, you’re limited to 500), your conversion rates, and how many social profiles you’re linked to.

It’s here that you can check your metrics and analytics to stay on top of who is accessing your content and from where.

If you go into settings, you have the option to add new social media profiles, or completely restart by resetting your Quuu profile.

This will take you back to the beginning of the process where you can either join as yourself, or join as part of a team. (Don’t reset unless you want to lose all saved data.)

Step 7. Your calls to action

Now it’s time to look at those CTAs.

You have two options here. Either you can click on the ‘Create new CTA’ on the top-right of your page to get started. Or you can input a URL you’d like to link to, and Quuu will automatically shorten it and give you the following option:

From here, you’ll be taken to a space where you can customize your own CTA bubble.

The first step is choosing what style you’d like your CTA to take.

Then, you can go on to edit the message you’d like to send to people viewing your curated content. I’ve chosen to direct people towards my most recent article on Content Marketing Awards. But you could link to a YouTube video, your blog, another relevant article, or a social media page. Whatever you decide, we’re here to help you achieve it.

Finally, you’re given the option to customize a bit more, but some of the features are locked for the free version. No matter, though, as we’ve tried to create a simple, yet sophisticated style that will look right at home on any blog.

CTA customizer on Quuu

With that, you’ll be able to see what your finished CTA looks like on the bottom of your screen!

Then all you need to do is add a name so you don’t get it confused with any others that you make!

And, back on your dashboard, you’ll be able to see it proudly displayed, ready to go.

By now, we should have sent you your first piece of curated content. Go into your Curate tab and you should see something that looks like this.

So here you can see what the article is and when it was delivered, who it’s from, whether or not it has been sent to your scheduler, and what category it falls under.

If you wanted to create a specific CTA for a blog such as this, you should go back to your Calls-to-action page and design something tailored towards this.

As you can see, I now have two CTAs on my dashboard. Click manage on the CTA you want to display on that blog page.

You’ll be presented with a list of the links you currently have, either in your curated content section, or within your CTAs. From here, you can select which one you’d like your pop-up to appear in.

I’ve chosen the article titled ‘How to write irresistible sales emails your customer can’t wait to order from’. This will link it to my CTA directing people back to my Quuu blog for similar content.

Click away from the boxes of links once you’re done to be taken back to the dashboard.

Now you should be able to see that your CTA has an associated link with it.

To make sure it’s all working properly, go to your links tab and click on the URL you’ve just attached a CTA to.

You’ll be taken to that site, where you should be seeing something that looks like this:

Oh, what’s that in the bottom left of the screen?

Only your brand new CTA, there for all to see!

Now you’re ready to rinse and repeat the process, and expand your outreach to its highest potential!

Why use a call to action?

We’ve shown you what to do, how to do it, and where to go for it.

But that still begs the question, why are CTAs important to your content?

In short, they are a gateway. A first step to something more. If people are already on your site, that’s brilliant. If they’re not, you need a way to get them there.

Content curation is an important part of networking, outreach, and building up a strong repertoire of work. People will see these, be interested in them, and know that you’re committed to providing the best content possible. But then that takes traffic away from your own content, which we’re certain you don’t want to do.

The inclusion of a simple CTA pop-up will prompt people to come back to your site. These ‘clicks’ are known as ‘conversions’ – basically, how many people convert from one page to your own? It creates a healthy flow of traffic, and people know that the content they’ll be coming back to is relevant to what they were just reading about.

And there are many more CTA designs than just our ‘Click here to find out more’ format. If you’ve ever seen:

  • A website asking you to sign up,
  • Offers for a percentage off your order,
  • An advert where you can click on service options,
  • An interactive quiz,
  • A chatbot,
  • The option to share something on social media…

Well, these are all examples of CTA’s. Some are more cunningly disguised than others, but they all serve a similar purpose: to get you engaged and interacting with their content.

We wanted to make this process as easy as possible for you – especially if you’re a beginner in the industry, without a large team behind you to help design fancy, large-scale CTAs.

The benefits have been well-documented, and a strategically placed CTA can double or triple your sales rates. Moreover, they are very useful for improving your CTR (click-through-rate), which, in turn, boosts your ranking when it comes to search engine optimization

The results

These are my results from only 24 hours. Even with a very modest number of followers, a handful of CTAs, and not much time devoted to actively pushing the content I was sharing, I had already begun to attract attention. With a larger, more structured plan and a clear goal in mind, it’s easy to see the possibilities for greater expansion.

In conclusion

Calls to action are invaluable pieces of advertising that are sure to provide fantastic results.
